We have some exciting programs in the next three weeks:

April 30  Lon McEachern :  announcer for ESPN World Series of Poker tournament

Lon McEachern, right, served as a local sports news anchor for three television stations in California during the the 1980’s and early 1990’s.  In addition, he was awarded a “Golden Mic Award” for radio work.  Beginning in 1994, Lon began broadcasting for ESPN.  He has covered a variety of events including the X Games, World Cup Skiing, bowling, billiards, kickboxing, mixed martial arts, and scrabble.  He is best known as the “voice of poker” for ESPN, calling play by play action at the annual World Series of Poker tournament in Las Vegas.  This will be a fun meeting to bring your poker buddies as guests.

May 7 : Teachers of the Year / Student of the Month

You won't want to miss this special assembly when we honor our student of the month and the top teachers from ORHS, Buckeye Elementary School District and Rescue Union School District.

May 14 : Lanny Hardy:  Local Colorful History you May not Know

What local establishment in our county served as the Wells Fargo stop during the Gold Rush Days, has the second oldest elevator west of the Mississippi, a 1853 Chickering Square Grand Piano and is reportedly haunted by ghosts?  It also has its share of famous guests including a former US President, Mark Twain, John Studebaker and Bette Davis.  Come to this very special meeting to hear Lanny Hardy tell fascinating stories about our past while Josh Tharp plays banjo music of that period. This “little known presentation” will probably be one of our most impressive programs this year.  Please invite guests, especially history buffs.
